PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug 1 reducing stress applied to a welding part 6 when the plug 1 is fastened. SOLUTION: The glow plug 1 is provided with: a cylindrical housing 3 having a male screw part 30 formed therein; and with a metallic sleeve 4 formed cylindrically including opening both ends and having a rear end face 40 in the insertion direction welded to a chip face 32 in the insertion direction of the housing 3. The glow plug 1 is further provided with a heater 5 inserted into the sleeve 4 and having a chip 50 protruded from the chip part in the insertion direction of the sleeve 4 and facing a combustion chamber 24 of an engine 2. With the male screw part 30 screwed to a female screw part 22, an diameter expansion part 41 of the sleeve 4 is made to abut on a diameter contraction part 23 formed in a plug fitting hole 20. In the housing 3, a thin wall part 33 having partially thin thickness is formed between the welding part 6 to the sleeve 4 and the male screw part 30. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
