A container containing the piled articles 10 is provided with an opening 14 intended to permit the extraction of the article located at the bottom of the pile, by virtue of a roller 16 acting by means of friction and whose dimension, in the transverse direction with respect to the extraction path of the articles 11, is less than that of an article, the extracted article being guided along its edges on guide members 18 which are offset with respect to the roller, and retention elements 24 being disposed in the region of the gaps between the roller 16 and the guide members 18 in order to act by means of friction on the article or articles which are possibly entrained with the article located at the bottom of the pile. <IMAGE>
