A clip (1) with a clip body (2) and a clip flaplet (6) is provided for web tensioning machines, which clip flaplet (6) can be pivoted by means of a lever arm (10) into its open or closed position. A two-arm rocking lever (11) is pivotably arranged inside the clip body (2), and is articulatedly connected to the lever arm (10) of the clip flaplet. In the case of this clip (1) which is constructed so as to be relatively low, a pressing down force which is directed onto the corresponding rocking lever arm in a purely vertical direction is at least sufficient to close the flaplet. <IMAGE>
