PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display unit, an image display method, and a program for avoiding the likelihood of the fact that an operation using an infrared remote control cannot be stably received.SOLUTION: An image display unit comprises: a liquid crystal panel; a backlight device that includes a light source irradiating the liquid crystal panel from the back face; a light receiving part that is arranged on the back side of the liquid crystal panel and receives an infrared signal from a remote controller; and a control part that, when the light receiving part receives the infrared signal, turns off the light source and increases transmittance of the liquid crystal panel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
