An apparatus for the fine machining of objects, e.g. by precise chip-forming or grinding operations on small objects in the dental sector, metal machining and sculpture, comprises a suction extraction device, a bottom wall and a cover which surround a working space. Waste material, such as dust and chips, produced during the machining process are prevented from scattering and collected outside the working space without hindering the capacity for work inside the working space. Both ends of the working space are open, allowing the object to be machined and the working tool to be introduced into the working space and positioned in the latter without hindrance.
