In a tower crane with a jib (5) which projects from a mast (3) and carries a trolley (12) which is movable in its longitudinal direction and on which the load hook (18) is suspended, at least one toothed rack is fastened to the jib (5) along the track of the trolley (12). Constantly meshing with this toothed rack is at least one drive gear of a drive device provided on the trolley and having at least one gear brake motor. The end of the jib (5) adjoining the mast (3) is pivotably connected to the mast (3) about a horizontal axis (4) in a manner known per se. <IMAGE>
