PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of hardware by using a byte position counter, a register and a combination circuit to convert the data transmitted every byte into the data of bytes having different numbers of bits. CONSTITUTION:A register 101 stores temporarily input data RI0-RI7 to be converted. A byte position counter 102 counts up to 8 obtained by subtracting 1 from the quotient 9 obtained by dividing the least common multiple 72 between the bit number (n), e.g., 8 and input byte and the output byte number (m), e.g., 9 by 8. Then the counter 102 instructs the byte position of the input data. The value of the counter 102 receives +1 between 0 and 8 for each transfer of the input data and is reset to 0 after 8. While a combination circuit 103 extracts the desired bit by the contents of the register 101 and the data RI0-RI7 supplied next in response to the value of the counter 102 and produces and delivers the data of 9-bit bytes. In such a way, the hardware quantity is reduced together with reduction of the cost for a data converting device. |
