In a case in which plants and animals are kept in containers, climatic conditions which are as natural as possible must be provided. The control technology used to this end is restricted to installations which calculate only one or a few temporally staggered desired values. For this reason, the natural daytime and annual fluctuations cannot be simulated. The invention solves this problem by measuring the fluctuations in the external climate and, after electronic modulation to the respective desired climate type, calculating them as the desired value for the climate in the container.
