PURPOSE:To permit easy attachment of a ferrule and to prevent the projection of a core by coating a core with 2 layers of plastic clads and forming the clad layer on the core as the layer harder and thinner than the clad layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:The core 1 consisting of pure quartz glass, doped quartz glass or multi-component glass is coated with the clads 2, 3 consisting of the plastic having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core 1. The clad 2 is formed of the plastic such as, for example, fluoroplastic having high hardness into the thin film and the clad 3 is formed of a silicone resin, etc., into the thick film. The ferrule can be attached to an optical fiber simply by removing the clad 3 according to the above-mentioned constitution and therefore, the attaching of an optical connector is easy and since the ferrule is attached onto the thin and hard clad 2, the projection of the core is prevented. |
