A permanent-magnet-excited dynamo-electric machine having a slotted laminated core, especially a small dc motor without a commutator and having permanent-magnet rotor poles of relatively high induction. The poles, which are constructed in a relatively concentrated manner in each case, of the stator are shaped on their outer surface facing the air gap such that an air gap, which changes especially periodically, is produced in the region of a stator pole. Stator poles have axially running projections, for example in the form of studs, on their outer surfaces, which projections face the air gap and have a width which is in each case only a fraction of the stator pole pitch in circumferential terms, and are arranged on the stator circumference at a distance of n rotor pole pitches (n = 1, 2, 3...) from stator slot openings. <IMAGE>
