The invention relates to a method for conveying solid/liquid mixtures in the form of an extruded slug by means of pressing or pumping devices in closed conveying lines. Such methods are today frequently used in chemical technology, biological technology and environmental protection technology. For example, the pumping of coal/water mixtures with high solids concentrations, e.g. for a method for coal gasification according to the Texaco-Ruhrchemie-Uhde system, and the pumping of dewatered sewage sludges from sewage treatment installations are to be mentioned. In such a method, the energy consumption for conveying the solid/liquid mixture over a given stretch through a given conveying line is to be reduced, the conveyability of a medium, which fluctuates in wide ranges with regard to the dry material content and the composition, with minimum pressure resistance is to be ensured, and the dry material content of the mixtures to be conveyed is to be maximised. This is achieved by the shell region of the extruded slug having a lubricant added to it peripherally from the start of the conveying line. <IMAGE>
