To produce a continuous double folded hem, particularly at the head sections of previously cut fabrics, a feed mechanism for the edge of the fabric for seaming passes it to the horizontal surface of a section moving over a horizontal surface on the vertical edge of a frame slightly below the level of the section. The flat section is fitted with a horizontal groove above the level of the flat surface of the frame. This groove takes the fabric, when inserted by a moving tongue, and the folding section swings on the upper long edge of the frame so that it turns and touches the horizontal surface of the frame. A take-off moves the double folded hem formed by the section to the hem stitcher.
