Gutting of fish, especially salmon, is done by opening up the abdominal cavity of the fish and sucking out the guts and the blood vessel running along the backbone of the fish with a suction element. The suction element is a suction handgrip 20 with a suction tube 13, which is connected to a vacuum appliance 23, 24 with a cyclone separator 23 by way of a flexible hose 11 and a remotely operated 8, 28 valve 22. A blade 6, moveably fitted to the suction tube 13 can be pushed forward in front of the leading edge 34 of the suction tube by a compressed air cylinder 2, which is connected to a compressed air reservoir 33 by way of a flexible hose 1 and a remotely operated 8a, 31 valve 30. The blade 6 is used to sever membranes in the abdominal cavity of the fish when gutting. During gutting, rinsing water from a pressurized water reservoir 27 can be fed to the nozzle of the suction tube 34 by way of a remotely operated 8, 29 valve and flexible hose 25. <IMAGE> |
