The base control circuit for a transistor 3 includes in series a current regulator 30, 32, 33, and inductor 34 and a diode 35 which is shunted by a resistor 36. A static switch 38 makes it possible to connect this base circuit to the negative voltage source in order to turn off the transistor 3. When a static switch 38 is opened, the current I1 regulated by the current regulator 30, 32, 33 turns itself off through the base of the transistor 3, the self-inductance of the inductor 34 imposing a steep rise in the value of this current in opposition to the stray self-inductance of the emitter of the transistor 3. <IMAGE>
