<p>A starter for engines, having an electric motor provided with a tubular rotary shaft (3) of an armature, a clutch means (15) for transmitting the rotational force of the electric motor, an output rotary shaft (17) provided so that it can be moved axially so as to be engaged with the clutch means (15), and an electromagnetic switch (25) provided with a movable body (32) by which the output rotary shaft (17) is pressed axially by means of an electromagnetic force, and adapted to feed an electric current to the electric motor with a movable contact engaged with a fixed contact. The output rotary shaft and the front portion of the movable body (32) in the electromagnetic switch (25) are inserted from the opposite directions into the tubular body of the rotary shaft (3) of the armature, and a sleeve bearing (23) is provided in this tubular body so as to support the output rotary shaft (17) thereon. This invention provides a starter for engines which has a small total length and a cylindrical shape.</p> |
