PURPOSE:To effectively utilize the entire display part by retarding a vertical synchronizing signal in displaying a laterally long picture and moving the long picture in a vertical direction of the display part and collecting the remaining part of the display part to the upper or the lower part only and displaying a slave pattern to the part. CONSTITUTION:With switches 8, 13 through respectively to the positions A, C, the existing standard television signal (a) inputted to an input terminal 1 is supplied to a signal processing circuit 9 and a synchronizing signal generating circuit 11. The circuit 11 generates a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal (b) to drive a display device 10 and inputs them to the display device 10. In this case, the middle part of the reproduced picture of the existing standard television signal is displayed to be the same as the middle part of the display part of the display device 10. When the switch 8 is thrown to the position B and the long picture from a VTR or the like is inputted through an input terminal 2 and a synthesis circuit 7, with the switch 13 thrown to the position D, a vertical synchronizing signal (e) being the result of retarding the output of the synchronizing signal generating circuit 11 by a delay circuit 12 by DELTAt as the vertical synchronizing signal is used and then the long reproduced picture is moved upward. Thus, since the remaining part is caused only at the lower part of the display part of the display device 10, the picture inputted from input terminals 3-6 is displayed to the part as a slave pattern. |
