PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge head which can reduce a difference between a detection temperature and a temperature of liquid supplied to the liquid discharge head even when there is a few number of temperature detection means, and can perform the optimum printing control.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge head comprises: a plurality of nozzles; a plurality of pressure chambers communicating to the nozzles; pressure generation means generating pressure in the pressure chambers; and a common liquid chamber for supplying liquid to the pressure chambers. The common liquid chamber is composed of a first common liquid chamber 11 and a second common liquid chamber 12 partitioned by a division member having an opening. The first common liquid chamber is provided with a liquid supply port 14 and a liquid discharge port 16 in the nozzle array direction. The liquid supply ports or liquid discharge ports are arranged on both ends of the first common liquid chamber. The liquid discharge head comprises liquid transport means which causes the liquid supply port/liquid discharge port to supply/discharge the liquid. In the cross sectional areas of the cross sections vertical to the nozzle array direction in the two liquid chambers, the cross sectional area of the second common liquid chamber is smaller than the cross sectional area of the first common liquid chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
