Polyester fibres are dyed in a bath contg 0.3-5 wt% colouring agents in form colourant dispersions. Dispersion contain colourants 30% max of which have a diffusion coefft. of 1-8 and 70% max of which have a dissuion coefft of 8-12. The colourant baths also contain acetic acid or a buffer to maintain a pH of 3.5-6, and 2 g/l max dispersing agent. Bath ratio is 1:10 to 1:30. The temp of the baths is maintained for 5-10 mins at 85 deg C when the fibres are introduced and subsequently raised to 100-130 deg C. In the critical temp region the temp is raised at 1 deg C/min rate. Dyeing time is 15-40 mins, after which the bath is cooled to 90 deg C.
