The weir is adjusted dependent on the water supply, having a hatch tilting on a horizontal axis. This axis (2) is below the centre of the hatch (1), whose position is determined by the equilibrium the hydraulic pressure acting on it and a system of floats (4) with counterweights coupled to it. This is accommodated in a space openly connected to the upstream side of the weir.
