LIGHT SOURCE CONSTRUCTED FROM GAS DISCHARGE TUBES

A light source composed of gas-discharge tubes and having a surface which reflects the light from these gas-discharge tubes consists of three closely mounted gas-discharge tubes of various colours (1R, 1G, 1B), preferably red, green and blue, whose length is not more than ten times their width. The gas-discharge tubes (1R, 1G, 1B) are surrounded by a common envelope (3) having a reflecting surface on its internal face, and each tube can be connected to a separate light intensity regulator. In one embodiment, the three gas-discharge tubes (1R, 1G, 1B) are arranged along the edges of a regular or approximately regular three-sided pyramid.
