The suspended ceiling is supported by a rectangular frame (3) made from lengths of moulded plastics. This frame (3) is attached by reinforcing wires (7) to an outer frame (14) which is supported on a plastic moulding (16) which is fixed to the wall. A spacing strip (6) is fitted between the reinforcing wires (7) and the structural ceiling (12). The reinforcing wires (7) are attached to the structural ceiling (12) by means of hooks (8). The space between the outer frame (14) and inner frame (3) is filled mwith plaster. The inner frame (5), the outer frame (14) the spacing strip and palster filling can be formed as an assembly and then attached to the structural ceiling by the hooks (8).
