Result is achieved by device for driving a light emitting diode circuit (1) comprises the first and second terminals (11, 12) to be connected to light emitting diode circuit (1), capacitor (31) connected to the first and second terminals (11, 12), switch (41) for, in a conducting mode, bypassing light emitting diode circuit (1) diode (51) for, in the conducting mode, preventing capacitor (31)from being discharged via switch (41). In this way, a reduced switch-on delay is realized without an additional switch being required for activating and deactivating said capacitor (31). Diode (51) is simpler and cheaper and more robust than such an additional switch and does not require control. Preferably, the apparatus comprises additional terminal (13), wherein diode (51) is connected to additional terminal (13) and to one of first and second terminals (11, 12), and switch (41) is connected to additional terminal (13) and to the other one of first and second terminals (11,12).EFFECT: technical result is simpler and more reliable drive of a circuit.8 cl, 2 dwg
