The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for preventing water damage caused by leaking pipes in buildings, where the water and/or heat conduits are mounted in installation pipes and protective pipes. The said pipes are connected to a coupling and control casing in a watertight manner, and so that they maintain the water pressure, from which casing there is a connection to an outlet channel advantageously via a floor drain. Water which leaks from a faulty water conduit or heat conduit can be moved along the installation pipe and protective pipe to the said coupling and control casing and onwards, via an attachment pipe or equivalent and possibly via a floor drain, to an outlet channel. The arrangement according to the invention comprises at least one coupling and control casing 1 in which there is at least one attachment member 2 for connecting an installation and protective pipe 5 for a water conduit or heat conduit and an attachment pipe 3 or equivalent for connecting the coupling and control casing 1 to the outlet channel 6. <IMAGE>
