Screws or similar fasteners are guided through feed tube (3) and feed tube extension (1) into the chamber (19) of the automatic screwdriver. The driving bit (16) moves forward to engage the screw and in doing so pushes the feed tube extension to one side. The hinge point of the extension is in the plane of the collar (6) at the upper end. The collar is pinched between a return flange (2a) at the end of the support sleeve (2) and a flange (3a) on the end of the feed tube. A coil spring (13) applies a preload on the collar so that there is a force tending to return the feed tube extension to the aligned position. A gap (2b) in the return flange allows the extension to move into the deflected position. ADVANTAGE - Simple design with few, easily replaceable wearing parts. Unit is easy to fit and remove.
