Continuous measurement of humidity level of bulk prod. in static dryer by; (a) isolation of sample column within prod. mass of height corresp. to that of mass; (b) measurement of wt. of sample column; (c) determine humidity from wt./vol. data for given prod. as function of percentage moisture w.r.t. dry wt.. Tubular openwork container (2) placed vertically within the dryer and resting on the base (1) contains a basket (6) with openwork walls and base of similar but slightly reduced dimensions to that of the container (2). An electronic weigher (7) suspends the basket and is connected to a microprocessor (n/s) which stores wt./vol. data and determines humidity of sample from wt. of basket (6). The container (2) is mounted on adjustable feet (3) allowing it to be mounted on flat or inclined base (1) of dryer. Air circulation between basket (6) and container (2) is prevented by a flexible annular flap. USE/ADVANTAGE - Determination of humidity levels of nuts, e.g. almonds and hazelnuts, or other fruit and vegetables during drying.
