In the event of road accidents involving vehicles, pregnant women are very much at risk with or without the conventional safety belt of a motor vehicle. In the event of accidents, the belt running over the stomach and the pelvis results, in most cases, in pregnancy-related injuries. The invention solves the problem since the shoulder belt for the safety-belt system for pregnant women ensures a belt-free zone for the stomach area (child-bearing area) and the chest of the pregnant woman. The shoulder belt (1) runs from the belt retractor (2), between head support (6) and back rest (5) or seat shell (5), over the right and left shoulders of the pregnant woman, and beneath the right and left arms through to the belt buckles (4). <IMAGE>
