PURPOSE:To quantize the elements of an important input vector with a high precision without increasing the number of transmission bits by providing a bit distribution decider behind a vector quantizer. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a vector quantizer 1, an adder 2, a bit distribution decider 3 which is placed behind the quantizer 1, a scalar quantizer 4 and an adder 5. An inputted vector X is vector-quantized by the quantizer 1, which outputs a quantized code CVQ and a vector quantized value QX. The adder 2 outputs an error vector E between the input vector X and the vector quantized value QX and the decider 3 decides a scalar quantized bit distribution number B from the value QX. The quantizer 4 quantizes respective elements of the vector E by the number B of distributed bits and the adder 5 adds the vector QX and a vector QE and outputs a vector quantized value Y. |
