Remote signalling of orders from tables in eating-establishment

The communication system has a number of table located code generating units (1) that allow coded orders or requests to be transmitted (2) to be received (3) by a central facility (4). The signals are transmitted over some form of wireless link, e.g. infra red, acoustic etc. The signals are processed and one of a number of indicators activated. Specific requests for service or for the bill to be issued by the cash register (6) can be made.
