The device has an elongated frame (5) for support of a stack of objects (6). The frame has a longitudinal axis which runs at an acute angle to the vertical, and an open side which is sufficiently dimensioned so that the objects can be loaded through it. The frame has a base (35) which holds the lowermost object in the stack. The base is formed and located in such a way that only a first outer edge region of the lowermost object is supported while a second outer edge region is unsupported.
