A system for monitoring pressure in liquids or gases has a housing (1) in which a Bourdon tube (5) is connected to the pressure system and the free end (7) of the tube (5) which carries a pin (12) engages with a pivoted and spring-loaded operating lever (14) via a spherical contact face (13).The lever (14) holds the spring button (19) of a microswitch in an open/closed position depending on system control circuitry and the interaction of the lever (14) and button (19) is adjusted via the set screws (22,23).A preset pressure triggers the microswitch (15) and lever to button contact is lost at all pressures in excess to prevent overstress of the mechanism.
