A press with a long gap (4) for the draining of paper web(1) comprises two press elements (2, 3) with surfaces pressing against one another where at least one draining belt (5, 6) runs between pulp web and the press elements. The draining belts deviate from the pulp web as soon as possible after running through the gap and a following web guide roller (7) is placed as near as possible to the gap. Also claimed is a similar alternative press where the guide roller is not specified but where at least one separation strainer (9), running between drainage belt (6) and the web, remains in contact with the web in at least one section following the press gap.
