The appts. (1) is used to control the work output of an exercising or training body. The appts. includes a pulse sensor, a clock (27) and a display unit (3) to be fastened to the body. It also has a computer unit (19) and a memory unit (24). Individual predetermined body data are stored in the memory unit (24). The computer unit (19) is formed such that at least one work value can be calculated from the detected pulse values and the predetermined body data. The derived work value is represented on the display unit (3). The appts. may have further sensors for e.g. blood pressure and other measurement parameters. The computer and memory units may form a unit separate from the pulse sensor, in a separate housing (2). The display (3) may also be integrated in this housing (2). Alternatively the display (3) may be in a separate housing. The appts. may also include a transmitter (10) and a receiver (18) for wireless transmission between the pulse sensor and the measuring appts.
