Handling device for moving containers in or out of racked storage system

The device has a frame on the outside of and with a column of compartments arranged to correspond with those in incoming (1) and dispatch (2) vertical racking system. Each compartment on the frame houses a pusher (5) appearing two pronged in plan with arms parallel to the movement of a rack server vehicle (4) between the racks. The prongs move out of a base position into a active position whereby a container in a compartment on the incoming rack is gripped and moved further out on to the rack server. Movement of the server can take the container away from the pusher. A container to be dispatched can be pushed from the server on to the outgoing rack.
