PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control 'solid region' processing for scavengeless development. SOLUTION: The processing develops the latent image of a 'solid region' toner batch on a photoreceptor belt 10. The batch is measured by an IR reflectivity type sensor after the development of the batch. The measured development quantity and the target value stored in a memory are compared. A comparative test is carried out and if the result of the test is smaller than the target value, the bias between a transporting roll 46 and a supplying roll 40 is made higher and the processing is ended. If the result is larger than the target value, the bias between the transporting roll 46 and the supplying roll 40 is made lower and the processing is ended. The measured image is otherwise admittable and, therefore, the processing is stopped. The processing is executed at prescribed time intervals in order to maintain the specified output from the electrophotographic printer. |
