The supports (14) accommodate components or assemblies, while the conveyors butt at right angles. At each transfer position (38,43,47,53) is a monitoring unit (63) detecting the presence of a support at the end of the incoming conveyor and also at the position itself. It can be outside the discharge track (61) and at the end of the incoming one (64). A separating unit (66) can precede the transfer position, being activated by the monitoring one. The latter can be a signal-emitter. consisting of an optical, mechanical, capacitive and/or inductive feeler.
