The subject of the present invention is a method for producing thermoformed buttoning or quilting using ultrasound, and the products obtained thereby. The method consists in applying an ultrasonic sonotrode (8) having a concave head (9) to a multilayer composite (complex) formed by a layer of foam (6) held between a heat-meltable sublayer (5) and a covering layer (7), the edge of the concave head causing welding on the perimeter of the button (10) of the said covering layer by means of localised melting of the heat-meltable sublayer, the concavity of the sonotrode head imparting its shape to the button.
