Web 10 is corrugated between rolls 14 and 16, glued by roll 18, bonded with liner 36 by press roll 32, and runs round roll 38 whose surface speed is higher than that of corrugating roll 16, so tensioning the web into further contact with roll 16 to complete web bonding. Web contact with roll 38 is adjusted by positioning roll 44. Roll 32 may be replaced by a belt or a slider. The web may be tensioned by a conveyor. Means for adjusting the gap between rolls 32 and 16 are described. Web tensioning enables pressing of roll 32 to be minimised, reducing noise and vibration.
