PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently keep the head touch of a magnetic recording medium formed into thin fim by specifying the range of loop-stiffness of the magnetic recording medium having total thickness in a specific range. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium having a supporting body and a magnetic layer formed on the supporting body is formed to have 3-6μm total thickness and 0.5-1.5gf loop-stiffness. The medium formed into thin film with the total thickness of the medium in the specific range attains high density recording and by selecting loop-stiffness in the specific regulated range, the head touch is not damaged. In such a case, the magnetic layer is preferably a metallic thin film and the head touch is more improved by forming the magnetic layer into a multilayer structure having >= two layers.
