PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber product excellent in durability and having characteristic touch, smell, etc., by immersing a fiber product in an aqueous solution containing a binder resin and a treating agent produced by emulsifying a specific hydrophobic substance and partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol. SOLUTION: This treating agent for processing a fiber product is produced by emulsifying a partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol having a polymerization degree of 1,500-5,000 and a saponification degree of 60-90% and at least one kind of hydrophobic substance selected from the group consisting of cosmetic raw material ester oils such as myristic acid isopropyl or octyl ester, animal or plant oily materials such as lanolin and olive oil, mineral oily materials such as liquid paraffin and petrolatum, higher alcohol materials such as myristyl alcohol and cetanol, and solid fine powdery materials such as powdery metal compounds and powdery inorganic substances. A fiber product is immersed in an aqueous solution containing the treating agent and an acrylic acid ester binder resin and subsequently treated at a temperature of 50-140 deg.C above the clouding point of the aqueous solution in a bath. |
