FIELD: mechanical engineering; may be used in machining of cylinder liners. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of surface layer of liner face with the help of honing head. First, surface is subjected to preliminarily machining by electromechanical honing with the help of diamond honing stick installed in honing head. Then layer is hardened by rolling members and finally machined by antifriction sticks. In so doing, supplied to zone of machining is process mixture of the following composition, %: copper chloride, 0.625-2.5; orthophosphoric acid, 0.125-0.5; formalin, 1.3-5.0; water, the balance.
