Large volume reactor for exothermic polymerisation of e.g. ethylenic monomers and vinyl chloride in aqueous medium

This new reactor is for polymerisation. Its reaction vessel contains a reflux cooler. In the new design, this comprises one or more cooling plates (6), located in the gas space in the vessel. Also claimed is a method of polymerisation of ethylenic unsaturated monomers in aqueous medium, using the reactor described.
