PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel cosmetic that has high inhibitory action against lipid peroxide formation and the preventive effect against skin aging by using an oil-soluble extract from tomato as ant active ingredient. SOLUTION: An oil-soluble tomato extract preferably a lipid as triglyceride and a carotenoid asβ-carotene is added in an amount of 0.001-30 wt.%, more preferably 0.005-10 wt.% to give the objective cosmetic. This oil-soluble tomato extract is obtained by extracting tomato fruits with an organic solvent as hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol, ethyl ether and the like. In a preferred embodiment, this cosmetic contains, in addition to the oil-soluble tomato extract, an antioxidant asβ-carotene, vitamin E, vitamin E acetate, vitamin C or magnesium ascorbate. This cosmetic is preferably in the form of cream, cosmetic emulsion, toilet water, pack, foundation, rouge and body cosmetic.
