PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic answering telephone set having an automatic answering recording and reproduction function such that trouble of message reproduction is avoided. SOLUTION: This automatic answering telephone set receives a caller telephone number that is set according to the caller telephone number service, and a control section 11 stores a caller telephone number received at the reception of an automatic answering number to an automatic answering recording information storage section 12 and stores a message to a message storage section 13, correspondingly to each other respectively. Upon the receipt of entry of a telephone number as a retrieval condition, the corresponding message is retrieved by referring to the automatic answering recording information storage section 12 and the message storage section 13, and the retrieved message is reproduced via a voice reproducing D/A converter 6.
