PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the cutting a bar-shaped food at necessary positions without causing cutting disorders due to extension or tearing off an any food material by cutting the bar-shaped food according to a specific method as it is in a lying state. SOLUTION: A bar-shaped food F is loaded on a carry-in conveyor 2, and it is carried toward a cutting region 10 of a shutter mechanism 1 formed in a state where it can be opened and closed by surrounding with a plurality of cutters C. The downstream end D of the curry-in conveyor 2 is inserted into the cutting region 10 in an open state to make the downstream end D approach the upstream end U of a curry-out conveyor 3, and thereby at least the front end of bar-shaped food F is transferred from the downstream end D to the upstream end U. Subsequently, the front end of the bar-shaped food is left leaded on the carry-out conveyor 3, and the downstream end D of the curry-in conveyor 2 is moved back to retreat the downstream end D from the cutting region 10. Then, the cutters C are actuated to close the cutting region 10, and as a result, the bar-shaped food F is cut. The cut food G is carried out by the carry-out conveyor 3.
