PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To loosely bond a polymer coating to an optical fiber segment by inserting a nonpolar material between the polymer coating and the optical fiber segment. SOLUTION: This method includes a process to insert a nonpolar material 5 between a polymer coating 3 and an optical fiber segment 2. Before the polymer is applied on the optical fiber, a release agent is added to the polymer, or the outer surface of the optical fiber is coated with a release agent so as to insert the nonpolar material 5 between the coating 3 and the fiber segment 2. The nonpolar material 5 such as fluorinated hydrocarbon oil may be inserted between the outer face of the optical fiber segment 2 and the polymer coating 3. As a result, the polymer coating 3 can be loosely bonded through the nonpolar material 5 to the optical fiber segment 2. |
