PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load brake for an artificial leg capable of generating weak braking force at the time of toe off, which generating strong braking force at the time of heel contact. SOLUTION: By specifying arrangement of a knee axis 20 and a pin 60, an angular moment with the pin 60 in a center, which acts to a knee plate 12 when the heel of a foot part is grounded, is set so as to be larger than an angular moment centering the pin 60, which acts to the knee plate 12 when the toe of the foot part is grounded. The angular moment acting to the knee plate 12 is active force reducing the diameter of the through hole 52s of a brake block 5 and its size is directly related with the strength of the braking force of a load brake 50.
