PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert video audio information into a program stream(PS) and to record a stream, when recording the video and audio information sent in a form of an MPEG 2 transport stream(TS) on a recordable player. SOLUTION: This recorder having a recordable optical disk is provided with a TS separate means 11, that separates a video audio packetized elementary stream(PES) of a prescribed program from a transport stream TS, a separate means 12 that converts the video and audio PES into a continuous elementary stream(ES), and a multiplexer means 13 that applies re-packetizing to each video audio elementary stream to multiplex the stream according to a prescribed rule so as to multiplex the video and audio data. The TS received from the outside is converted into a PS by each Demux, a separation coupling means and a mulitiplaxer means and recorded on a recording medium.
