PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical alkali battery suitable for a use requiring a big current and having high stability. SOLUTION: This cylindrical alkali battery has a sealing structure equipped with a resin packing 3 having a thin film part 3a as a burst preventive function and a metal plate 4 having a degassing hole 4a, and a battery can be prevented from being burst by its wrong use by providing a projecting and recessed surface 3b on the side facing the metal plate 4 of the resin packing 3. That is, in the past, gas was produced and a temperature rise occurred by charging with a big current caused by a wrong use, the degassing hole was blocked by deformation of the resin packing, and there was a fear of burst. However, by forming the above mentioned projecting, and recessed surface, a degassing passage is secured and potential burst can be prevented even under such condition.
