PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rectifier and a full-wave rectifier having a small loss and large breakdown strength. SOLUTION: When a voltage is not applied between the emitter-collector of a transistor Q3 and the potential at the collector is higher than that at the emitter, no voltage drop appear across a resistor R1 and transistors Q1, Q2 and Q3 are turned off. When the potential at the collector of the transistor Q3 is lower than that at the emitter, a voltage drop appear across the resistor R1 and the transistors Q1, Q2 and Q3 are turned on. When the current between the emitter-collector of the transistor Q3 increases, voltage across the resistor R1 increases to cause increase in the collector current of the transistors Q1, Q2 and Q3 and the voltage between the emitter-collector of the transistor Q3 decreases.
