PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which the remaining life of an activated carbon adsorption-type chemical filter can be estimated simply sand precisely. SOLUTION: This estimation method for the remaining life of an activated carbon adsorption-type chemical filter contains (1) a first procedure wherein the relationship between the adsorption amount (x), of a gas component to the chemical filter, which is found by a solvent extraction method and the adsorption capability (y) of the gas component to the chemical filter is found and the adsorption amount (xz), of the gas component to the chemical filter, which corresponds to the adsorption capability (yz), of the gas component, which is used as a life judgment point is found on the basis of the relationship. The estimation method contains (2) a second procedure wherein the chemical filter in the usage time t1 as an object used to estimate the remaining life is sampled and the adsorption amount (x1) of the gas component by the sampling is found by a solvent extraction method. The estimation method contains (3) a third procedure which estimates the remaining life tΔof the chemical filter on the basis of tΔ=t1(xz-x1)/x1.
